DICT-ILCDB Hosts TechTalk Series: "Tech-Ready Youth: Empowering Responsible Skills"


Manila, Philippines - The ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB) of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) successfully concluded its TechTalk Series titled "Tech-Ready Youth: Empowering Responsible Skills" on June 27, 2024, at Manila Central University – Caloocan. This event marked the grand finale of the ILCDB's National ICT Month celebrations, focusing on advancing ICT literacy and competency among the youth.


The TechTalk Series was a dynamic gathering featuring expert speakers, interactive sessions, and ample networking opportunities with key stakeholders in the ICT sector. The event aimed to equip young individuals with essential digital skills to navigate and thrive in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.


The program showcased an impressive lineup of speakers from diverse backgrounds within the ICT and related fields. Ms. Chelsea Manalo, Miss Universe Philippines 2024, shared her insights on using digital platforms for advocacy and positive influence. A national e-sports athlete and manager discussed the growing e-sports industry and the skills needed to excel. Online game streamers provided tips on creating engaging content and building a community. Startup founders shared their entrepreneurial journeys and the role of technology in their success. Industry tech leaders offered perspectives on the future of technology and career opportunities. Advocates from academia, fintech, coding, and inclusivity emphasized the importance of inclusive and responsible tech use.


The "Tech-Ready Youth: Empowering Responsible Skills" event underscores the DICT-ILCDB's dedication to empowering the next generation with crucial digital skills. By fostering responsible technology use, the ILCDB aims to prepare the youth for future challenges and opportunities in the digital world.


The event was co-presented by Manila Central University, DigiPlus Interactive Corporation, and FPS Media. Their support was instrumental in the success of the TechTalk Series, highlighting a collaborative effort to advance ICT education and competency in the Philippines.


The TechTalk Series not only celebrated National ICT Month but also set a foundation for ongoing initiatives to enhance ICT literacy among the youth, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute to and benefit from the digital economy.
